Mass for the Sick Saturday 17 July 2010 11.00am - Rosary (confessions available during the rosary) 11.30am - Mass Lunch follows Mass (for those who have booked) 2.00pm - Benediction
Introduction
The Annual Mass for the Sick and Housebound is held in July, and supported by the following parishes:
Our Lady of the Sacred Heart, Bulkington
St Anne’s, Camp Hill, and St Joseph’s, Arley
Our Lady of the Angels, Nuneaton
St Francis of Assisi, Bedworth
The Mass is organised by the Pastoral Care Project, and has been running since 2003. The untiring effort of the many helpers contributed to what was a very dignified and moving event.
It is a very moving experience to see so many people coming to pray and supporting the priests as they minister the sacrament of the sick.
Through the laying on of hands and anointing with holy oil, many with debilitating illnesses exude peace and joy afterwards.
The Mass and Lunch is very well attended, a short time of entertainment is provided by the parish. The day concludes with Benediction in Church.
‘At the time of anointing the priests went to those who were too frail to walk to the front of the church for healing, this was truly a biblical experience and one cannot help but be moved by seeing the vulnerable openly reveal the power and comfort from the Christian faith. ‘ Annual Report 2008-9
